Costa Rican authorities reported Monday that 47 kilos of cocaine were seized in a Pacific port that were attached to the hull of a cargo ship from Buenaventura, Colombia.
"The drug was hidden in a compartment known as 'parasite', which is placed by drug dealers in the hull of ships to mislead the authorities," the Ministry of Public Security (MSP) said in a statement.
The seizure was carried out over the weekend by divers from the MSP when they made an inspection on the ship named Captain Palmerston Monrovia, with the flag of Liberia, which anchored in Puerto Caldera, province of Puntarenas (Costa Rican Pacific) with a load of 206 containers .
The ship had like later destinations El Salvador and the United States.
